Using a tagline given below, create a signature.

Basic Rules
-Use more than 2 pictures atleast
-MUST have Shahrukh in them (a picture with him and co-star is also allowed as well as friends and family but must stick to the tagline and have shahrukh in all the pictures used)

Ok, an issue has to be raised here (and as I am not a contestant, I feel I can say this without fear of accusation of 'sour grapes'):

Up to this point, this entire competition as been about narrowing down to the 'best' visually. This meant each entry was judged on its aesthetic merits.

You have set this entire competition up this way. Now, you have chosen to change the set up of the competition, and frankly, that's not fair.

In the previous rounds, there were sigs with good ideas but poor execution...thus, they were eliminated.

Now, with this change in the competition rules, there are people who right could and should have been in this round as their execution may not have been the best, but their ideas were very good.

You tell the contestants that "The idea is to have the most creative and productive idea" - that is to say the previous rounds were merely about 'pretty' and good technical technique, and the ideas, creativity and productivity did not count in those rounds. When in fact the sig as a whole, concept, idea, execution, aesthetics, etc. were the factors they were judged on, and rightly so, as a sig is about these things.

The point of a sig is that it is a visual medium… and therefore should it makes us want to look at it, draw us.

Perhaps this criterion would be a good basis for a new competition, thus opening the doors to more participants and allow this one to carry on as it has thus far.

I am confused... how exactly are you going to judge "thinking and productivity"? At the end of the round people are gonna vote and most probably will vote on what they like to look at visually.

Your division is like dividing commercial and art cinema! Whats the point? A good film is a good film, and a good sig is a good sig. I believe it will be difficult and confusing to achieve what you are saying here... to select based on creativity and not execution. And as long as that is not clear, I am confused before starting work on my sig. As far as I am concerned I believe my sigs have always been more about creativity and innovativeness. At the same time I was quite clear in my mind that I'll get voted out if the sigs are not attractive as the voters will vote based on instinct and first impression visually. And that is fair!

If you had judges, which most of us didn't approve, then it would have been different. Because judging what is creative is subjective... what looks creative to me, maynot be creative to you. But whether or not a particular sig is "likeable" or "good"... that is a simpler decision to make, and for general voting that is what the basis should be. What you are suggesting is like giving the "Critics Award" based on "Popular Voting" which is a paradox in itself. I fear it is going to lead into utter confusion during voting.

And what do you mean by "there will be STRICT laws on the votings this time"? If the voting is going to be anything different from what it has been till now, then I guess we should get to know about the rules before working on the sigs.

Sigh. I hate being negative, but I have to agree with pokeye. A graphic needs to be visually appealing, no matter what. I understand you wanting to do something different, but this is changing the whole competition in the middle of it. You can be creative and have your sig visually appealing as well, and I think that's what the requirement should be. As pokeye said, creativity is subjective. Listen, you guys...i try to come up with something different and interesting for you and this is what you throw at me. I am sorry for those people who have been eliminated...no one should take offence or have it based on something specifiq. And also let me tell you this...obviously a sig should be appealing...no one is going to have a ugly signature and win the competition. Now thats COMMON sense! And if you guys are getting all worked up becuase of public votings..dont blame be because i told you guys....lets have judges because i knew whats coming but no again...everybody disagreed. So far, everything i did to make this competition better because i felt i started it and i am the one who is responsible for making it better and the only idea you guys ever supported was that the votings should be annonumus. No one ever agrees on something...no affence but its too much. I really look forward to this and put my whole effort into thinking whats best for us. Beofre it was like that since i was in the compettion, now i am starting to think whats best for you guys and you guys always disagree :( ...it really dissappoints me to know, that every single thing i say, really has no meanings because you guys are all so brilliant and you have better ideas ofcoruce. Now everyone will say, hey listen dont take it offensively..but it disturbes me and has been since the round started thats why i am bothering to write all this! You guys dont want it like this...you guys want SIMPLE every day signature competition...ok then, thats what you will get. Dont blame me later.

As far as it goes for your specific concerneces about this round, let me tell you...this is fair because every round was judged on that specific round..not on the previous rounds. Each member had to present a good looking layout last round. I failed to do that so i am out. This round, Reema fails to give us a good sig with no perception of productive idea, she should get eliminated (sorry to put you on the spot Reema, its just an example) . What i am trying to say is, EVERY round is based on that specific round..not on the perevious ones so pokeye...you should meet the requirements of that round and if you fail to, you will get eliminated. I got eliminated because i didnt meet the requirements of the last round...so as far as my explanation goes for this, this round seems pretty fair. Someone also mentioned how will the VOTERS know what criteria to vote on. First of all, if you guys went with the judge idea..this would have never happened but let me put that aside for now. I gave 2 questions and every contestant has to answer them when they provide their entry and those answers will be posted with thier entry so the voters know how that picture coveys the theme of the tag line and why they choose those pictures. Ofcource the appeal of the signature counts, thats common sense like i said before in this specific round, the thinking also counts since there are no pictures.

This was sapouse to be very simple instrustions but i thought i should go deep so all of you undertsand better but you guys are taking everything so negatively. However...i will put it this way just to make everyones life easier =]

Make a signature using the tag line "Pyar dosti hai" and read the basic rules of how to make the signature in the rules above.

I am sorry for being so rude but i think i should have let you guys know how i feel about this since this has been happening for 9 rounds and what i am doing is only better for you only and then everybody says all this, if you dont want to have creative and interesting rounds, i am serious...just simply tell me so we dont have to face all these problems. Now people are going to concentrate on this more than the round....everybody will start posting saying yes i agree with her because so and so..hey, this is not a debate club but just a sig competition and you are just meant to keep up with the rounds. I know you guys have free will to say what you want..i have no concerns with that but when you put down my idea where there is not much reason to it, it really hurts me because i really work day and night for it. I am so serious, i check this topic everyday before i go to shahrukh's pictures of current events. I browse through other forums where there are competition to see if i can get a good idea, i try to change things around and adjust with what you guys like also ....but ..ok forget it. I know, but a whole competition goes on for like 15 rounds, each round 1 week plus the votings, another week...meaning 30 weeks =O ....you guys want the same thing for all those 30 weeks. So what if there is a change, it makes it more interesting na...thats all :(

well, the sigs are different in each round. the pics used are different. But the voting procedure needs to be consistent for any fair competition.

We are in the 9th round and some people still make mistakes by voting for the sig they liked instead of the one they disliked. And you expect a new voting criteria to work properly in the middle of the competition?

As far as I'm concerned I've voted every round looking at the appealing side of the sig and the inovations. Like most people around here, I too feel that the attractiveness and innovational ideas are subjective. One member may look at sig A and think it's very innovative because of the concept and the layout or colors and another member may look at the same sig A and think it is not at all innovaitve, that she has seen many like this before. How innovative a sig looks to you depends on how creative you yourself are and how much you've been exposed to such creativity. What is fresh and innovative for one is blase for another.

I think all the members have been voting extremely well so far, except for those who voted for friendship and not for the sig. And I htink the same logic should be applied to all the remaining rounds.

exactly, we are all trying to say the same thing. the votings have been fine so far (except for the controversial last round... but that has been sorted out now). Let people vote on whatever criteria they feel like. Its upto them whether they choose creativity, visual appeal or both while voting. That is the whole point behind "public votes" and one's "right to vote."

I am absolutely OK with the "choose your own pics" and "be innovative" thing. That's cool and challenging.

i love the idea of doing a sig that fits a special tagline. there wasn´t such a task by now. i mean there were always pics given before and now everybody has to find their own pics, which they think fit best. it´s a great idea and i'm totally curious about what every contestant will choose.
and one little thing about the voting:
i must admit, that i always vote for the signature that catches my fancy. sorry :( i don´t care if it has any innovative idea or whatever. :no: i like it, i choose not to choose it and that´s it. :yes:

No....no text on the sig is mandetory but if you want you can also write whatever you want...maybe its to help get the idea better or whatever, up to you.

I choose these pictures because dil to pagal hai is my favourite movie and i love the relationship, Shahrukh has with Karishma in the movie.

It relates to the tag line because the picture on the left and right....they are having a little fight or you can call it an argument, in a friendship way. However, in the middle picture...it shows, that they are young youngsters who are best friends but deep down inside, they are in love. :)

I would recommend, dont make it too long like that because its public votings and people might not read the whole thing so try to keep it short and straight to the point but this is just a example. Bdw, if Reema & CMReeves want to change their entry, they can because no one has seen it...so just so you guys know, you can change it if you want, there is no problem with that =]

I can't speak for everyone else here, but I personally don't like clutter. I like things to be fairly simple and clean looking, even if they weren't simple to make. I like decorative touches, but not so much that it distracts from the subject. I would rather something be too simple than too overcrowded. I guess that's why I like your simpler sigs better, Kanwal. They're decorative without being crowded.

Oh, and Carlos? who's Carlos? :P

I would think the simple ones are more difficult to make. You have to convey so much with just a few touches. Like Carol I don't like too much clutter either, unless it's meant to convey chaos. I like innovative and unique ways of laying out the pics but too much visual impact leaves no impact at all IMO.

I definitely think the due date should be delayed if Kevsar says that will help her. If she can't participate at all, you can go ahead. But if some more time will help her make the sig, then please delay the due date.
