Really disappointed about Darsheel being in the Lead Actor category, primarily because it shows that Aamir's dirty tricks worked.

And why are there 6 nominees this year in the lead actor and lead actress categories?! They can't keep changing things every year. That's silly. Akshay Kumar for Namaste London?! Rani Mukerjee for that horrible LCMD?!

Deepika deserves winning for Newcomer but she shouldn't be in the category they put her in either.

I just saw on Aaj Tak that Darsheel got a best Actor nomination. I am very disappointed. Now even if he wins they ppl will say the kid should have got it. Not to go on a negative ride but now I don't see much hope of SRK winning Best Actor

All nominations were voted for by the public right? and after all the stories about Darsheel and his refusal I am sure Aamir fans constantly voted for him in the best actor catagory hence his inclusion.

As for 10 nominations for OSO,it was a very popular film especially in the overseas as compared to CDI so on public only voting, it will definitely have votes in more catagories.

Will they allow the public to vote for the winner or is it now only for the jury to decide?

Either way I am confident Shah rukh will win best Actor and CDI should win Best film.

i am so happy Om shanti Om has so many nominations! i am so happy .. so well deserved. and IMO Deepika Deserves to WIN!!

As far as Darsheel is concerned. I hope Filmfare doesnt do any tricks and give the Best actor to Him just to make peace with media.. i also will love to see OSO win loads of awards!

Darsheel's nomination is troubling me a bit.

No doubt Darsheel acted fabulously, but so did Pankaj Kapoor in Dharm, Naseeruddin Shah in Parzania, Kay Kay Menon in Black Friday and Akshay Khanna in Gandhi My Father. Why aren't they nominated then? Since when did Indian movie awards become so "intelligent," "different," and "quality oriented"? It was always about the stars and it still is. So nominating Darsheel for best actor is a bit of a stretch... its basically Aamir Khan's ploy that has worked.. he has fooled the public and the media successfully. Hope they don't do something like giving the award jointly to SRK and Darsheel! :rolleyes:

Yes... the nominations are out in the papers today. They said watch it on 24th Feb. Maybe the awards will be on 24th itself, then.

From the OSO point of view ;) the nominations are far better than for the screen awards, I'm very glad Vishal-Shekar are among, they really deserve it.

I don't mind Deepika being nominated either - she doesn't deserve to win, IMO, but it's another nomination for OSO :)

As far as the best actor category is concerned, I'm optimistic that SRK should win for CDI :fingerscr

If I remember correctly, Anna Paquin won an Oscar when she was about 10 or 12, Tatum O'Neal was still a child when she won, too, so it's not an Indian thing :)

I have not seen TZP, so I can't comment on Darsheel's acting, but I still hope, SRK will win :)

its so :ohboy: every news channel is making a big story about SRK v Darsheel at FF awards. And what's worse is that they are making it sound like some David v Goliath story where SRK is supposedly this big bad monster who is hogging all the limelight for too long! :ranting: That Arnab Goswamy even commented "Darsheel didn't need a six pack to take on Shah Rukh" while reporting on Times Now... and to think Times Now belongs to the TOI group which organizes the Filmfare awards!

I am feeling horrible now, too much sympathy votes are going in favor of Darsheel... who knows what the jury will do! I hope they do their job honestly keeping the interest of cinema in mind and not get carried away. What worries me is that SRK winning the award won't create as much news as SRK losing it to a 9 year old. :wall:

Aren't 60% of the votes by viewers and 40% by a jury for FF awards? My biggest worry is...we Indians are such an emotional lot. I'm horribly afraid that people will vote for DS purely because it's so easy to get sentimental over cute little kids. Damn and double damn , this is just awful.

Maybe as a Shahrukh fan I'm biased, but I wouldn't find a child who behaves like that cute, but quite annoying.

New Delhi: A nine-year-old Darsheel Safary has been nominated in the best actor category at the 53rd Filmfare Awards. The big deal about it is that he's the first child actor to have ever been nominated in a leading role.

“I have no reactions. He has stepped into the heart of the nation and that is the biggest award anybody would want,” says Creative Director, Taare Zameen Par, Amole Gupte.

He adds, “The film itself is anti-judgmental and I would have no view on what his family or anyone would want from him. He’s a nine-year-old and I give him the benefit of doubt.”

Safary will be competing with biggies like Shah Rukh khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapur for the best actor title. The film has also been nominated for best picture, director, supporting actor and lyrics award.

Other films vying for the coveted best film award are the gripping hockey drama, Chak De! India, Mani Ratnam's Guru, Imtiaz Ali's entertainer Jab We Met and Farah Khan's unapologetic masala, Om Shanti Om.

OSO’s leading lady Deepika Padukone has bagged the nomination for the best actress category. Other nominees include Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Guru, Kareena Kapoor for Jab We Met, Madhuri dixit for her comeback with Aaja Nachle, Rani Mukherji for Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Vidya Balan for Bhool Bhulaiya.

It seems to be the year of debutantes with Safary, Padukone and Aamir Khan bagging most of the nominations. Aamir Khan will be vying for the best direction award along with Farah Khan, Shimit Amin, Mani Ratnam, Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Basu.

The 53rd Filmfare awards will be announced on Feb 24, the same day as the Oscars.

well thats really irritating why a kid is competing in the same best actor category,thats rite that he's done a great job in the movie but.....he should be given some other award like best child artist or some thing like that but why,and no debutants...Deepika is in the best actress nomination....why a child star is competing with the main stream heroes and super star like our SRK...well thats getting very irritating to me now!

You didn't see the way they were going on and on about the kid at the Screen Awards. Even the Pope wouldn't get this much mention. It was awful. Like no one has ever acted this well before. Ugh!

they just can't let Rani go, can they? even when she's given mediocre to below-average performances (in both TERRIBLY made films), she is still recognized... my question is, WHY???? and wtf was that with the whole saawariya nomination? i wanted to poke my eyes out as i was watching that film. watching blue paint dry is more fun and logical than watching that pointless "blue"wariya. RM was strictly OK in that movie. i'm not saying RM's a bad actress (i think you're absolutely insane if you call RM a bad actress), she's a brilliant one, but this was just not her year. so it really saddens me that they still nominate her, when she absolutely DOES NOT deserve it, AT ALL.

and her and Deepika over Tabu in CK (best actress)...? COME ON!!!! i was starting to have a little faith in BW awards after seeing the nominations and results from the screen awards... guess i was expecting too much, WAY too much.

anyways. well, i'm happy with all the nominees in the best actor category except akki's. the other akshaye should've gotten the nomination (for Gandhi). best actress is pretty good too except RM's nomination. either way, KK will win it deservingly for sure, so its all good now. and honestly, i will not be disappointed if Darsheel wins. yes, i'll be happier if SRK wins, but both of them deserve it, so its all good. wouldn't mind shahid either. at least if SRK does lose to Darsheel or Shahid (though the chances i think are very, very, less likely), it won't be like losing to HR for Dhoom 2. and if he loses to akki, then LORD HAVE MERCY, is all i can say.

This is going from bad to worse. NDTV is showing some clip today afternoon titled Darsheel: Uncrowned King.

I can't imagine the kid threw a fit and Filmfare buckled over. For God's sake, kids do that all the time - do we as parents always give in ? I get the feeling they nominated him because the whole thing would make big news which they can go to town about for the next couple of weeks - more eyeballs for Times Now, TOI et al.

Of course Darsheel did a superb job, but I'd give 60% of the credit to Amol Gupte and Aamir - they did an excellent job of casting and guiding Darsheel. But those of you who've seen the movie will know that only half the film concentrates on Darsheel's acting. In the second half, the focus shifts to Aamir and how he resolves Ishaan's problem.

I guess we could debate this till the cows come home, gnash our teeth in frustration and nothing will happen. Let's simply pray that justice will be done and the jury or whoever will use their head. I can't stand the thought that SRK will not get his due for a role like Kabir Khan (and I seriously think Darsheel would benefit with a good spank..grrr..!!!)

About Rani Mukherjee, she will get away with nomination every year even if she acts bad in a film, she even wins for mediocre performances, so no suprises there for me.

I want SRK to win, cause he deserves it. If you do take out SRK from the list, then I hope Darsheel loses to Shahid. He shouldnt win best actor, he should get best debutant or something like that.

If he is qualified for nomination in Best Actor he is most definitely qualified for Best Debutant (male). Darsheel is a debutant this year and he must be competing with Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Mukesh, neither of who has been nominated for Best Actor. So by nominating Darsheel for Best Actor, it qualifies him to win Best Debutant (male) filmfare by default.... automatically. That brat definitely deserves to be cut down to size; he's gone from "cute" to insufferable in a very short while. As for his parents, they should know better than support that kind of behaviour and they should reflect on the future of all those kids. What good did Tatum O'Neal's Oscar do to her career? What happened to Haley Joel Osment? The only survivors of that early fame are Jodi Foster, Natalie Potman and Drew Barrymore who had a hell of a bumpy ride between ET and her return to cinematic glory.

I dont know if this merits opening a new thread but does anyone else get the feeling there is an industry backlash against Shah Rukh because he has been so overwhelmingly successful commercially this year? If this is so, its grossly unfair as hard work should be rewarded. Im just wondering if nominating Darsheel is a clever way of doing Shah Rukh out of his due. Even with the NDTV award...he did not get Entertainer of the Year although they made him the centre of attention...they gave him a lesser award and I think he was quite hurt by this as he said in the interview that he felt he couldnt outdo what he had done this year and as such probably wouldnt ever win the NDTV entertainer of the year! My heart went out to him:aww: .. But at least in that case, it could be argued that he lost to someone of stature, Rajnikanth.. Now they should give him no awards--no Best Lead Actor, No Critics Award, No Child Star Award, No Jury Award, NOTHING. Poonam, do you believe the 9 or 10 year old is making such demands? There is more to this and we may never know what or who.

Since this is his first movie he should have been nominated for debut or otherwise child category.
I do not think Filmfare would cave under pressure from 9 year old but it could if there were other forces involved.

I agree it will be sometime before he makes another movie. I also feel he or he and others are fooling around with his future. People hesitate to deal with kids who can be a problem. His performance is good but he is not without problems.

Of all child performaces I have seen is the last 15 years, one performace which should have got an award but got nothing was Kunal Khemu for Zakhm. He did not get any thing, No child actor nothing from filmfare. What about Makdee, that girl she carried the film, there was not AK type of person there. She also did not get anything from Filmfare, then why this time. I doubt if Jugal got anything from Filmfare too. This is making me sick.

still he is a debutant and so are the other guys. If you want to be fair and nominate a child actor in a category with other actors then he should be placed in debutants, because this is his first film.

But I have confidence in Yash Raj Films backing. Shah Rukh will get that award for CDI.

Interestingly he won almost everytime when he starred in a YR film

1995 - DDLD (Yash raj)
1997 - DTPH (Yash raj)
2000 - Mohabbatein (Yash raj) got him the critics
2004 - Veer Zaara (Yash raj) He didnt win because SWADES was a much better role. But had SWADES not been there, then VZ would have won him that award! :yes: But in anycase he won everyiother award that year for VZ!

Lets hope CDI continues the track record!!! :bow:

SRK will the best actor award in the popular category for sure and if atall Darsheel wins it, it would be in the Critic's category. glad that they have nominated Darsheel, he was really outstanding in the movie.

I think so too. I think Darsheel deserves a Critic's nod since it is tough to direct a kid and that too for the first time he gave an awesome performance.
As far as Popular awards go, I think Kabir Khan was excellently portrayed by Shahrukh.

i think thats what he was upset about last time.. the special jury award. he didnt want it..

This is my opinion...I don't think that the kid...whatever his name is cute. If I really thought about it I could come up with some really horrible adjectives but I will not go there. He'll get his five minutes of fame and then what...

I obviously think that Shah Rukh should win...he deserves it. I think he has a great chance of winning but you really never know.

As for voting...sometimes I really don't see the point of these online polls but I do it anyway because I'm optimistic.

Darsheel was absolutely fantastic......as a child star. In that category I would give it to no one else. He was outstanding.

But when you put him in the same category as SRK and Akshaye Khanna (I'm trying to be objective :)) he doesn't come close. He doesn't have the maturity or the experience to compete with adults. And since he so badly wanted to, he got his wish. Now hopefully he'll know what a big mistake he made.

Exactly, I just HATE this.

How can SRK get out of this situation. The only possible way could be if SRK wins he gives it to the kid (I don't want this to happen :cry:), something like what AB did when he won Best Actor for Hum in 1992, he called Aamir or Sanjay Dutt (the other nominees) to take it. Sanjay Dutt had come then.

I've seen cdi and tzp and the boy was excellent as was shahrukh. actually, I wouldn't want to be in the judger's place to decide who's best. I would prefer shahrukh, though. :D but maybe they should give it to both. anyway, my favorite solution would be best actor award for shahrukh and critcs award for darsheel.

It will be absurd if TZP gets Best Film. Subjectwise, both CDI and TZP were geat, equal I'd say. But in treatment, I think CDI was better made - it had a lot more drama. TZP suffered from a bit of drag in the second half. Also, the preachiness was obvious. CDI dealt with multiple issues and its 'messages' were delivered with good humour and superb dialogue. Hopefully, the jury, which gets a 40% vote thinks of these things.

So it looks like it's in the bag for SRK. I'm trying to be realistic - if Shimit and Aamir tie for Best Director, I think I could live with it(though imo, Shimit is by far the better director. AK was very good, but not so hot in the second half of the film with its preachy flavour). But it would a shame if Shimit lost out just by a few votes. Let's hope that jury whoever they are, do justice.

As far as I know its on next weekend the 23rd Saturday and its being shown on Sony TV on the 24th (Shah Rukh had better win the Best Actor award....Ive subscribed to sony simply because of this!!!) .....I am not 100% its in the bag though as the last two issues of Filmfare have gone overboard about :gunfight: darsheel IMO
but I'll keep my fingers(eyes and everything else):wacko: crossed till the 23rd:waiting:

let's put it the other way Tazeen - Darsheel winning is a given. I'll be shocked if FF gives it to Shahrukh :)
The way I look at it is SRK has won so many accolades. Not winning one stupid FF award which holds zero value in my book won't make a difference and won't make or break his career.
Whereas if Darsheel wins then it will be his first and who knows when he'll get one again ;-) So let the spoiled kid of the year enjoy the show. It Ain't lasting long! and it's not like he'll have Aamir to support him for the rest of his life :-p

I don't think FF gives out awards to worthy performers. Otherwise last year Hrithik would not have won for Dhoom2. Just my opinion. FF have no credibility in my eyes. I enjoy watching the show but I don't get upset when they don't give it to the "right" people because I don't believe they ever would. I've been disillusioned a long time ago ;-)

If Shah Rukh doesen't win for CDI then what will he ever win for in thwe future?This is his best role ever and to know some brat :groan: who doesnt deserve it will win,is not right. This dude may never make it when he grows up and to know that he spolit the very best chance for Shah Rukh is very sad. Shah Rukh gave this film industry so many crores over the years.
