I had a totally off the wall thought: we seem to have a lot of German members here. perhaps they could have their own section, where they could write in German. (which is not to suggest that every country should have their own mother tongue section!)

Et pourquoi pas? :P Actually, it might get a bit lonely in a French section...:D

We can understand your feelings, but think of this -- there must be many German websites dedicated to that language. This site would become too fragmented if we were to do that here. Like right now, for instance -- all of us want to hear about everybody's experiences at the Berlinale, and we wouldn't be able to do that since we don't read German!
Just think of it as excellent practice in English! :D

It's better if we can all share in the Shah Rukh experience, and English seems the best medium.
Actually, I surprised myself last night when watching German TV to get all I could on The Berlinale at how much I can understand if I really pay attention to what is being said, and that with just my knowledge of English and French, (I find that Italian and Spanish aren't much help on the occasion...). :haha:

I really like the thought behind this suggestion: to give us German speaking fans space on srk.org to discuss matters in our mother tongue. Thanks Sandidi for thinking of us :)
Still, I have to agree with Maryah.
I've seen websites with subforums in other languages and it makes the whole thing a bit segregated. This place would lose one of it's great qualities - people from different places and backgrounds discussing with each other in one language that all of us understand (more or less  )
And it is not only an excellent chance to practice our English, as Maryah wrote, but also a chance to embarass ourselves regularly and learn how to live with it :D - sorry, couldn't resist :blushing: :D

People shouldn't be afraid to use English here, even if it isn't their first language. Members here are not going to laugh or make fun of you if you can't speak English properly, rather we'd help you get it right. And yes toju, we don't want members segregated. So German members, even other members, please post, and write out your words the best you can. All the other members have no problem in helping out. :)
Now I'm really having a deja vu moment: I discussed this exact same idea yesterday with Miriam and Tanja in Berlin, and we three came to the same conclusion you guys did. Good to know we weren't so off with our way of thinking. :)
I've said it before, and I say it again: Whenever someone has problems with translating from German into English (or the other way round, of course), I will be happy to help out.
Gruß,
Sema

Actually we are very happy to see members speaking different languages trying to post in English. It may not be grammatically correct but who cares? Love for SRK is the main thing binding us all here and that's all that counts.
So please don't feel embarassed to post in English here. :)

Now you know how us bad mean old admins feel! :D We just try to scold lovingly, even if it's hard sometimes. hehe
Seriously, it was very thoughtful of you, and I'm sure that everybody's feeling fine about it now that we've talked it out. No worries! :)
