I am not going to post spoilers. I flew from Dhaka to Kolkata. A different country, just to watch the movie. The immigration guy called me "pagol" and then asked what I had arrived to watch and I said "Rab De Bana Di Jodi" the guy exhaled something under his breath and told me only an SRK fan would be that crazy, I retorted back saying I am not even one thirds of the kind of real fans SRK has.
Moving on to the movie. The Inox Salt Lake, Kolkata Show was full. In short, everyone laughed, cried, whistled and some even danced in the cinema and I joined in. We were total buffons. Girls were sobbing all through. I did wet up in my eyes more than twice. I am not hyping it. I just connected with the movie and everyone else did too. No one left at intermission either barring like two people. The vibe in the cinema was overwhelming. Kids who bunked school were the highlight. The couples all cozied up during the movie.
I went in with very very little hope. I just did. DDLJ doesn't happen everyday and no, I am not a fan of Mohabbatein, it was a sugar fest for me barring SRK and AB. I loved every second of RNBDJ. Its a positive film. Its one of the films after DDLJ and a few others that compelled me to think after the show ended that I need to go seek out my love. Romance in me kinda died a few years back but this has lit it up. Yes, I know, its just a movie but the effect on me was profound. Its such a positive film. In an age when cynicism and fear defeat hope...........this film asks you to have faith.
I know that critics are not going to like it..........simply because........the movie is not for cynics..........its for those who love to love. Those who can believe in the good of men.......
Everyone stuck around till the end credits........till the last line. SRK promised that like it or hate it.......you would walk out of the cinema with a smile on your face.........I could only see smiles and couples teasing each other. More or less all the chatter confirmed that they would be back to see it again with either other friends or family.
Anyways, I won't review the movie. I can't. I am biased. Plus, everyone and anyone will review the film. Those who see the film alone in an empty cinema will not like the film. Its a crowd experience............
A new chapter and what SRK can do. He emotes so sincerely. Your heart yearns that he gets what he wants in the movie.........
If not for anything else, watch this film to reignite the love within you that lies dormant. To lay to rest your anxieties. To have fun.
Total paisa vasool.........
After such a long time, a clean family film without a complicated pseudo message to boot.........
Enjoy everyone.......I know that my efforts to catch this film made my year for me........
Im tired. Off to sleep I go!
Hum hai rahi pyar ke, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte.......
