on the very remote chance that someone may know how to solve my dilemma, I wonder if anyone knows why I can't copy and paste URLs on my PC.
if I am at a website and go to the URL line, click EDIT, there is no COPY option, it just has SELECT ALL, which of course selects the whole page, not just the link...this means I can't post any articles here with a link.
it copies an URL OK if it's in an article, but not direct from the URL...
has anyone ever had this problem, or know how I might fix it? :fingerscr
I think it's been this way ever since I got a new PC guy, :rocket: and a replacement Hard Drive...:wall::pullhair::thumbsdow
Which version of Windows are you using? And which web browser do you use? Also, do you have anti-virus software?

^^ I had this problem too Sandi!!!! I couldn't even highlight any text and copy it..
eventually i found out the problem was with my mouse:crazy: :blushing:
(embarrassed)
But just for the sake of giving it a try, try highlighting the URL and right clicking and copying.. I know its basic but in case you haven't tried it till now..

:pullhair::rocket: it takes forever when I click on something (even to first open my computer) and either just hangs there and I get the non-responding message, or I click and nothing happens, so I click again - end up clicking 3-4 times, and after a minute or so, it opens 3-4 times! :wall:
it's driving me crazy, I can tell you...:ranting::curse:
anyone with any brilliant suggestions?

Hmm, maybe it would need the Windows System (if youuse windows) new loaded on it. Did you check your Pc for a virus or something nasty like that which will cause the PC to get slow?

There are multiple things that can be checked, but I would not go into the details since I feel that it might get complicated. Easiest solution is to do a fresh install - if possible.

Here's another idea. Take your computer to an expert and ask them. It could simply be that you've got so much stuff saved on your computer that it has very little resources remaining for the necessary tasks, like starting your computer, opening programs, etc. Or it could be more serious and involved than you can handle yourself. The experts can determine this, and even solve the problem.

thanks all - I don't think it's a virus...and can't afford a computer guy...have used less than 50% of my storage, so it looks like a fresh instal might be the answer...darn! :groan: I don't know what's involved with that...does it affect anything stored on the PC?
I'm fairly sure it's an MSN thing...I will check for updates and see if that helps...or...or...or...may have to try to reinstal:shrug:
if I used Windows Explorer instead of Internet Explorer, would that make any difference?

Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are the same thing, with different names :) Why don't you do this, let's try to debug some of it. May be you can post a screenshot of your task manager with the 'Processes' tab? That might throw up something.

OK, thanks sam, will give that a go...stay tuned!
where do I find the *processes* tab, and the task manager? (sorry, I know I shouldn't be let loose with a computer)

Do this. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc - all at once. That should bring up the Task Manager. Now you should see multiple tabs there, some of them being Applications, Processes, Networking and so on. Click on the Processes tab. You should see two columns - memory and CPU. Click on each column header by turn, to see the application list on your machine, sorted in decreasing order of usage. You can post the two screenshots - one for CPU, one for sorted by Memory.
If all this sounds too complicated to even try out, then ignore :) But it is simple, and I would suggest atleast one attempt!
