Is that list really matters?

What does that mean? Can sombody care to explain?
It is just a list of films which qualified to take part in awards . Meaning those films can take part in competion IF they want to. So this list does not really mean anything..just that MNIK could have taken a part in award competion..that's all

Thanks for the explaination Roza.:) Hope Fox, Karan & Shah Rukh will consider sending the film to take part in the competition. It would be a great loss if the makers doesn't grab this oppurtunity!

It's too late. They should've done it last year, now the voting is almost over.
More then that as much as I like SRK and the film ..it unfortunetly is not Oscar material.

I agree. MNIK is not Oscar material. I had hoped it would have been but alas it's not. Maybe next time.

Nomination poll closes on 14th Jan
Could someone tell how does film compete for Oscars?
I mean the protocol to be followed for getting nominated.

It takes lots of lobbying , showing film to jurors ,there are like 3 stages of judging before film gets choosen to the final list.

Being eligible is a good thing too. Also, they can show the newer version to people where they had shorten the film and cut the Hurricane scene - i still have a hope! I do not give up easily...And why would Karan mention on his twiteer if this does not mean anything?

Thanks Roza.
Considering the Indian hype that created during Slumdog days, FOX should try selling MNIK to jury's. Hope it flies.

Like I said it's waaay tooo late.
@DSP
The shorter version played in USA only for one week and only in one theater in LA and one theater in NY. It never made waves among critics anywhere ,I mean prestigious film festivals etc.
Karan just retweeted someone's tweet.
Do not get me wrong , I wish MNIK the best, I am just being realistic:)

Some realistic comments here. The list doesn't mean anything.

When something as worthless a Slumdog Millionaire can win so many Oscars and awards world over, I don't understand why people say 'MNIK does not deserve an Oscar'. I am not debating if it will be selected or get an award or anything like that but I do not agree with "Does Not Deserve" part. I am pretty sure a lot of Undeserving Films also get Oscars, SM is a shining example, it got so many awards just cause it was successful else it was a rubbish film, Parinda made on some what similar lines decades ago was way better. If SM can deserve so can MNIK but that is my personal opinion.

Movie experience is very subjective. You may not have liked SM, but people around the world loved it. And it didn't have a hurricane scene :P

If not for the film, SRK at least deserves an oscar for his interpretation...

Yeah it did not, but it had other truckloads of garbage and I am pretty sure if SM was made by an Indian Filmmaker you would have been the first to call it that - Garbage.
