Y rockstar is nominated , it was pathetic , agree that ranbir was good but movie was yukh!

ananyatui
Jan-11-12, 10:47 AM
agree, rockstar should've only been nominated for best actor and music.
I'm pretty certain vidya balan is going to win best actress, but best film, director, and actor seems like a toss up.

pagalmariam
Jan-11-12, 04:55 PM
HR nominated for ZNMD? REALLY???

srk
Jan-11-12, 04:59 PM
sorry if this is off topic.

srk has already won best actor popular in 2011 for mnik. and now hopefully for don 2 in 2012. lets all not forget that next year 2013 also he shall win fo yash chopra's film hopefully. which means srk shall win best actor award popular for 3 years continoulsly. WOW !

why is everyone assuming that ranbir will win, i hate NDTV videos sometimes, they are so rubbish, i was an other video where they say even don2 crossed 100 crores no one gave it too much importance in bollywood, and then even hif friends hritik and arjun ignored him and daboo's party that they had differences, i mean what the hall is wrong with these poeple why would a movie like don2 be minimized like this even when it is having so much success i mean what do they want him to do exactly, now even when his movies are bog grossers they still say thay he is not the king anymore, i really don't undertsand these indian channels. sorry maybe i am discussing in the wrong place i just don't get indian channels and audience.

Shereen
Jan-13-12, 04:36 PM
People assume Ranbir will win, because he had given an amazing performance. For a once, I don't mind of he wins for Rockstar.:)

SRK_Super_Fanatic
Jan-13-12, 07:53 PM
Yeah, that NightOut bit was not necessary. Don't understand how these guys just announce what they think will win like it's a proven fact...and it's for no reason too.

Oh well, hope SRK wins and proves everyone wrong. At least he'll make the show entertaining to watch :)

Neeran
Jan-13-12, 08:54 PM
Hope SRK will win. What he did with Don character was exceptional. Don't care what others think.

Gangsta
Jan-13-12, 09:16 PM
Ranbir and Vidya Balan will take the awards I am sure. But why are films like Delhi Belly and No One Killed Jessica nominated? Some of ghem don't make any sense.

agantuk
Jan-13-12, 09:35 PM
SRK shouldn't waste his time hosting the awards if he doesn't get the Best Actor award. He can do more productive things in that duration. ****ers should have some standard for giving awards. They can't give it to the biggest grosser one year and the most critically acclaimed the next.

Compton
Jan-14-12, 01:17 AM
I hope & prey SRK wins Filmfare awards..........:fingerscr
Filmfare is considered the most prestigious awards in Bollywood....
Personally I don't care if SRK does not get any other awards but Filmfare awards he should definitely win...........
Lets wait and see.............

Jan-14-12, 03:23 AM
SRK totally deserves best actor for Don2! according to me he gave one of his career best performances Ranbir should get critics

Naina-99
Jan-14-12, 04:12 AM
SRK hosted FilmFare awards before where he didn't get the award , so hosting the show don't have anything with winning the award at least for SRK .

I hope He get the best actor ( Popular ) , and Ranbir the ( critics ) one because both deserve it .
as it's public vote and SRK won almost all the poll they made for best actor this year

but i have feeling that SRK will get to most iconic male ( which i hate it = ( ), Ranbir the Popular one and the one who was in " Shor in the city " will get critics award

he seems sad though, don't you think? and i do also feel that he avoided answering about katrina, maybe he didn't like her that much.

ujjwala
Jan-16-12, 05:03 PM
Oh come on we know SRK better than that. We need to realise what we see in these videos of Zoom is what Zoom wants us to see with their brilliant daily-soapish cuts and edits. Secondly SRK is going to spend 2 months of publicity time for this film, later this year answering the same question - how it was to work with Katrina, over and over again to every journalist. Its best this question comes up then and not now after a 4 day schedule.

Neeran
Jan-16-12, 05:29 PM
^Well said Ujjwala and I agree. We really need to relax!:)

SRK is such a warm person...:aww:. He and Juhi are so sweet. Thanks yousuf.

i think so srk will get best actor award critics because next year in 2013 srk has to surely win filmfare award best actor popular for yashji's film according to me.
but if he wins best actor popular for don 2 and next year best actor popular for yashji's film , it is really going to be awesome.

I really hope Shah wins...
I can't see Salman winning an award for that crappy movie. no offense but seriously: does he think he deserves any thing for Bodyguard???

agantuk
Jan-26-12, 11:28 PM
I would take Salman winning a popular award over Ranbir any day. Popular awards are about popularity, not about histrionics or 'layers' in a performance. Today, in India, the biggest star in Hindi films is Salman Khan. He can just break a few chairs or benches on the screen for an hour and people will flock to the theaters to watch it. Ranbir can't do that in his dreams.

SRK was really amazing in CDI or even in MNIK...I dare anyone can do half as good as he did in both films but he never took both awards. This is my point. It is ok, we want to express ourselves here. I'm sorry but SRK was perfect in Don and it wasn't an easy perfomance with so much layers in it.

I'm glad Ranbir got it, everyone praised his performance. I wish SRK would've received it but oh well, he can't win them all. Atleast this is a slap to the naysayers that FF always gives SRK awards, etc, etc, etc.

I'm judging out of the movies I've seen this year and Ranbir's performance was the best.

I think there was a lot of pressure on filmfare after screen ignored bodyguard from nominations, even people within film industry were accusing of awards fixing..

Any way next year yashji movie will clean sweep every award :)

so for the first time since a long time srk will walk free handed from an award function , he must be disappointed as we are.

He is a very sportive person and doesn't gets disappointed. He didn't won any in 1999, 2001, 2006, 2008 though nominated.

So be happy that at least other actors are getting a chance to win.

I don't have problem with him at all, even though I don't think he is that a good of an actor IN MY OPINION, and I don't want to go further with this. But I guess they could gave SRK both for the last year also and for CDI. Fair is fair. That's it.

Anyway...There are still more years to come for SRK.

hope srk learns the lessen and work with trustworthy directors from now on not like anubav who i believe ra one would have been better if it had a better director than him. i had a dream b4 ra one released that it would be the biggest of his career and will take many awards but i was disappointed when it came out, if it had a director like karan or aditya chopra or farhan it would have been better.

There is no problem with SRK's films and his roles. he is doing an amazzing job. Yeah more complex and edgy characters are welcome which he did with CDI,MNIK RNBDJ,DON but in no way we can blame SRK for that. Ra.One has nothing to do with this. Each year has its own share of roles and films.

He did a fantastic job in Don and I wanted him to win but he didn't...That's ok. It happens everywhere I guess.

its okay people.. SRK's films this year weren't performance driven.. Ra.One was for its Action and Don was for its Style.. SRK took the 8th filmfare award for best actor last year.. Ranbir did his careers best (so far) in rockstar.. and the film was a performance driven film.. so its okay that SRK won.. we should see it like SRK has just 1 more win to hold the record and inshAllah it will come soon.. could be next year who knows.. yet still he plays such a huge role in all award functions.. nominated and his film ra.one/don2 were nominated and took home many awards.. that doesnt happen to every actor in BW

Exactly. So we shouldn't care whether he wins or not especially for action films that hardly develop a character the way a drama or love story does.

If he won this year, it would have gotten a huge amount of flak from everywhere. When he wins, it should be for roles like Rizwan or Kabir Khan.

He is only one award away to create a history in FilmFare. I'm sure he will work on that and grab it soon in the coming years.

What's left to hope for next year only. I was upset, of course, to know that SRK wasn't awarded. But maybe it was for the better who knows. I mean the media and some collegues will calm down now. It's almost impossible to be awarded every year even for SRK. But I must say SRK performane in DON was BRILLIANT though I haven't seen Ranbir in Rockstar. :nahnah:

I am really fine with Ranbir winning both - he really acted well. And I dont think popular category means "which actor is more popular"

Isnt it a mix of popular votes as well as jury votes ? Maybe a lot more people voted for ranbir.

im happy for ranbir (in my opinion the most promising actor) SRK ra one was not meant to be a award winning movie and DON2 was amazing but i really hope that srk will start acting again i have been a fan from 1992 till now but lately i have the idea that srk is buzzy running the race of 100 cr clubs.i think that is time srk the actor should do cdi swades kind of roles cuz he has so much potential,he has been so successful it is time to go i would say the nasserudin shah way of film selecting cuz it is such a shame that a great actor like shahrukh khan is named in the same breath like salman aamir ajay or how ever they maybe called.

Is ZNMD really that good?
i thought so. i really enjoyed it.

HR doesn't deserve this nomination in the first place. He did nothing in that movie, and I'm not being personal.
exactly!!!!!!! i didn't know Hrithik was the main actor/character in the movie. i thought they were all equal. i thought they all did good. so i don't get how Farhan is nominated in the supporting actor category and Hrithik in the best actor category.

its okay people.. SRK's films this year weren't performance driven.. Ra.One was for its Action and Don was for its Style..
good point. i guess i can accept that. hesitantly. :D but i still don't think Ranbir deserved both awards. i don't dislike Ranbir and like i said before, he did a good job in Rockstar. just not 2 awards worthy. if not SRK, Ajay should have gotten the popular award.

^And lets make it clear also that the jury ( his own industry) didn't give him his due from these awards in both films. It is the people and the fans who gave the Award to him for both roles.

Two Oscar worthy performances didn't deserve to take both Filmfare awards and a regular one took two this year. And people will call this now a fair winning. Just see the difference.

Ok....guys, this also shows how sporty SRK is...because probably he knew that he is not going to win any awards yet I heard that him along with Ranbir had audience glued to their seats. He gives his best wether he wins awards or not.....if he did not host or showed up for FF, the same people and media would have said that he didn't come because he did not win any awards. SRK had an amazing year and his both fims reached technical mile stones along with box office success and his films won awards in technical categories which is noteworthy! I am extremely happy for SRK and his accomplishments!

I completely agree with you.

I saw Rockstar (I felt the movie was soooooo boring) and Ranbir did a good job not extraordinary (IMO) - definitely not that extraordinary performance of getting two awards. I am disappointed with FF about this.

Saw ZNMD - It was funny and good but like Mary said a lot of similarities to DCH. I felt Farhan did a great job compared to HR in this one. I feel if HR could be nominated, Farhan could have easily been nominated.

Anyway, looking forward to Shah Rukh's hosting.

THE RED CARPET
Today was my first day of shooting for Raaz 3. It was tiring and exhausting. Now, I'm here to sit back and cheer my friends and have a good evening: Bipasha Basu

This is my first Filmfare Awards. The studio is looking lovely. Ranbir and Vidya seem to be the absolute favourites this year. I guess they'll win the Best Actor Award: Chitrangada

I remember when I won the Best Supporting Actor award, and then immediately my name was called for Best Debut. I had one award in hand and was going on stage to pick up another. It was the most memorable moment for me. And I keep returning to Filmfare to bring back that memory: Vivek Oberoi

It's an exciting evening. If I win a Filmfare tonight, I'll score a hattrick. It's only on this evening every year, that meri niyat thodi kharab ho jati hai, because I plan to bring a lady home: Vidya Balan

I think Vidya has done a good job this year. Even Priyanka was fabulous. Actually they all were very good, so picking one is difficult: Madhuri Dixit

It's a tough job to be on the jury. I was on the Filmfare jury this year, and I'm not allowed to say much. But it's a very tough job!: Urmila Matondkar

It's tough to elect one person or one film from all those nominated. May the best talent win. We are looking forward to the evening: Sridevi

My beautiful wife is with my beautiful baby. I'm here alone. Honestly, I don't know the nominations too well. Is my Ma (Vidya Balan) nominated? Then I'll vote for her. Am I nominated? No? Then I don't think I'd root for anyone: Abhishek Bachchan

It's an exciting evening. All of us are here, that's a celebration in itself. If any one of us bags an award it'll be a double celebration or more than that: Javed Akhtar

Everyone from the family - Farhan, Zoya, Javed and myself have been nominated. It feels special. We feel like a family of one of Karan Johar's films: Shabana Azmi

I'm rooting for Ranbir Kapoor. He did a brilliant job in Rockstar. I think Vidya Balan will win the Best Actress. I've already congratulated her in advance. And ZNMD was my favourite film of last year. I enjoyed it so much: Deepika Padukone

Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali arrived with wife Preety. He informs though his Rockstar has been nominated in the Best Film category, he is unaware about the other nominations of the same category. "I don't know about competition. I think when you make a film you don't get time to watch other films. So I don't know with which films Rockstar is competing." His wife Preety is definitely rooting for Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor.

Rockstar has been nominated in several categories. I wish it wins every award possible. The music of Rockstar was widely accepted, that was a feather in my cap and an extremely important thing for me: AR Rahman

Pratiek Babbar is on red carpet and cheering for his contemporaries. "I want an actor of my generation to win. I want Ranbir to win".

I don't care much about Awards. All I'm interested in is doing good films: Kalki Koechlin

Though playback singer Shreya Ghoshal was won two nominations, she says, "Usha Uthup deserves to win. She is so legendary that I am not even a competitor". When asked, which playback actress does her voice suits the best she says, "Kareena and Vidya".

I'm going to be hosting a small segment and performing. I'm also looking forward to Shah Rukh sir and Ranbir Kapoor hosting. It's going to be a pulsating evening: Ali Zafar

Parineeti Chopra is thrilled to win two nominations for her debut performance. She is nominated in the Supporting Actor (Female) and Debut (Female) categories for the same film 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'. "Winning a nomination for your debut film feels really great. What's more rewarding is to be nominated alongside Rani Mukherji in the Best Supporting Actress category", she says.

Prateik walks in with Amy Jackson

I want Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to win Best Screenplay, Dialogue, Film, Director. That'll be a double whammy. And Zoya will ensure that I come with her for all the awards, for she considers me her lucky mascot, not that she needs one: Dia Mirza

It's exciting to be here with the cast and crew of znmd. I don't have any acceptance speech, just keeping fingers crossed: Zoya Akhtar

I'm rooting for Kalki (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and many others. I want the best man to win: Anurag Kashyap

I'm looking forward to Shah Rukh and Ranbir Kapoor's hosting and some great performances. Delhi Belly, The Dirty Picture, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are my favourite films of 2011: Neha Dhupia

I'd like Vidya Balan to win for 'The Dirty Picture', Ranbir Kapoor to win for 'Rockstar', Imtiaz Ali to win best director and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to bag the best film. Let the most deserving take home the black lady tonight: Kabir Bedi

I'm rooting for Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture' and Ranbir Kapoor for 'Rockstar'. For music it has to be 'Ra.One': Sarah Jane Dais

"I'm exited, nervous... If I win I'll start screaming. I loved Vidya in The Dirty Picture. I'll be happy for her if she wins", says Mahie Gill

Priyanka Chopra makes an entry in a Ferragamo gown and though she is nominated in the Best Actor (Female) Category for '7 Khoon Maaf', she says her vote goes to Vidya Balan for 'The Dirty Picture'. She adds, "I will be performing a skit on 'Junglee billi ka swayamvar' and hope people take it in right spirit".

Choreographer Bosco says Farhan Akhtar was a surprise package in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara for the 'Senorita' song.

"I'm excited, thankful to God and thank you to Filmfare for my nomination. Thanks to everyone who has liked my song. I loved doing this so much", says singer Harshdeep Kaur who is nominated in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category for the song 'Katiya Karu' from the film Rockstar.

Dress designer Niharika Khan who designed Vidya Balan's outfits in The Dirty Picture says the Filmfare black lady is sexiest - better than any actress.

Delhi Belly actress Poorna Jagannathan says her film Delhi Belly should win the Best Film Award.

Celebrities have started coming in and Mukesh Bhatt is the early bird entry.

Filmfare has insulted the audience. None of the films awarded were accepted whole heartedly by the audience. What is the point of these awards, I had boycotted Filmfare in 2006, and my decision stays. Losers. Let Sir Ranbir or Mademoiselle Vidya Balan get a grosser like Ra.One or Bodyguard and then we will speak.

^ The Dirty Picture was. Rockstar wasn't that popular I agree. But FF or any of these awards are not just for popularity, they are for critical appraisal too. For a different kind of thought, or expression.

Thanks for having that opinion about me :)

However, it isn't about SRK, I don't think I even mentioned him. It is about awarding the films which audience accepted. There were 5 films that crossed 100 crore in India last year. I don't see any of them mentioned in the major winners category. Surely they did something right? Even the music for God's sake. If Rockstar was so good, why on earth could it not beat the sales of even Ra.One, which was not even the highest selling album - that credit goes to Ready?

Reena
Jan-29-12, 10:45 PM
Ranbir won for both for Rockstar, when HR came he won two for KNPH. Till date I have never seen SRK win both awards for the same role, not even CDI and MNIK. Well anyway, whats done is done.

Yes and strange coincidence that both RK and HR fathers are from the film industry.
But at least they did give both to Shah Rukh even if not for same movie

I have no problem with Ranbir winning, BUT why both.
I so hoped SRK would win both in 2004 when he had MHN, VZ, and Swades. But NO.
Even with CDI and MNIK he wasn't good enough, but HR with KMG, Amitabh with Black, and now Ranbir with Rockstar take home both awards. IT's upsetting.

True.

SRK's talent combines all the actors in BW hands down despite the film he is in as a whole and he proved that in many many roles...And I'm sure deep inside BW know that. Still the critics within the industry and the awards functions find it hard to give him his due when he deserves it…They feel guilty once in awhile but still SRK needs to suffer the whole drama around each award or performance he did. But now it is different, let celebrate a performance that not even worth all the hype…Simply because we were waiting for this.

Shah Rukh is an outsider so i guess he's been treated as one

I second that. And I know what you mean. It is not just about SRK not winning this time. Besides It is about the "now this is fair" trend that I'm reading all over the net. I mean come on...

WTH AND WTF !
HOW CAN RANBIR WIN POPULAR AND CRITICS AWARD IN BEST ACTOR AT FILMFARE !
HRITHIK ALSO HAS WON LIKE THIS BEFORE BOTH POPULAR AND CRITICS IN BEST ACTOR !
AFTER SRK WINNING BEST ACTOR AWARD POPULAR AT SCREEN FOR DON 2 AND ALSO AFTER SRK WINNING BEST ACTOR AWARD JURY AT ZEE FOR DON 2 , I WAS 100% SURE THAT SRK WILL SURELY WIN BEST ACTOR POPULAR OR CRITIC AT FILMFARE 2012 FOR DON 2. AT LEAST SRK SHOULD HAVE WON BEST ACTOR AWARD CRITICS AT FILMFARE IN THAT WAY SRK WOULD HAVE GOT ALREADY INCLUDING NOW HIS 16TH FILMFARE AWARD AND HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR BEST ACTOR AWARD POPULAR FOR YASHJI’S FILM WHICH MEANS IN 2013 SRK WILL HAVE 17 FILMFARE AWARDS. I AM COMPLETELY SHOCKED WITH FILMFARE !

FILMFARE IS SHOCKED ME : RANBIR FOR BOTH POPULAR AND CRITICS ! OH MY GOD !
HRITHIK ALSO BOTH POPULAR AND CRITICS IN 2004 FOR KMG ! OH MY GOD ! FILMFARE.
WHY NOW SRK BOTH POPULAR AND CRITICS ?

NOW I PRAY TO GOD THAT SRK’s ACTING IN YASHJI’S FILM SHOULD SURELY WIN HIM BEST ACTOR AWARD FILMFARE POPULAR AND CRITICS IN 2013 AND AT THAT TIME SRK WILL HAVE 17 FILMFARE AWARDS !

RANBIR POPULAR AND CRITICS !

I am not liking the whole FF publicity of SRK and Ranbir fighting or whatever it is supposed to be for the trophy especially since I know both went to Ranbir. guys i wonder if some of us are taking SRK not winning this year a bit to hardly.. SRK had a huge year.. 2 huge releases and both made their space in the top earning films of all time..

but like i mentioned in a post earlier. Both these films were not performance oriented films. IMO i wont hold either of these films to be "srk's finest performances" .. i expected Ranbir to walk away with Best actor this year for his really good performance in rockstar. I didnt expect him to get both. But its okay i guess.. even if SRK won the "critics" best actor it would have been just another award for him. SRK has a long list of films coming his way and iA soon he'll bag yet another Best Actor tropy to add to his amazing list of Great performances and he'll place it on that already full filmfare shelf. The spoofs between RK and SRK are just fun. RK seems like a decent guy and even he knows that it will take him 2 decades to reach where SRK is .. even the audience knows that.. notice he is the only new guy whose been doing well that isn't thrown at SRK as his "replacement" ..

i guess what i'm trying to say is that yes, this year SRK didn't go home with the award but iA he will soon and for performances that wont even be debatable. Last year SRK took them all and in 2007 and in 2004 and in 2002 .. i could go on.. lets all just continue to love him and the "awards" will continue to come to him.

In the green room with the black lady

The 57th Idea Filmfare Awards ceremony had its share of backstage heartache along with the movie magic. Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillaai looks back at the sweet pain with affection.

Flights to Bangkok were mysteriously advanced, parties were thrown to clash with the awards (that he later took a swing at one of his own guests is another matter), celebrity couples refused to go up on stage to give anything other than top awards, another wasn't happy being a 'supporting' actress and a director didn't turn up because he wasn't promised a win. Quite the dirty picture, this.

Every year I ask myself why I do this to myself. Every year the grandness of the Filmfare Awards trumps the people who sit at home and sulk like sullen children, every year I promise I won't give in to temptation, every year I fail and, every year, I thank my stars for having failed.

When you, dear reader, see the awards on TV, watching highlights of the SRK and Ranbir laugh-riot, the dance performances interspersed with some of Indian cinema's biggest stars - you have no clue what happens behind the scenes, it would be like saying Sachin Tendulkar is just a cricketer.

The awards you see don't happen over the course of one evening but several days and months.

New venue, new rules, new anchor team, new heartaches, new headaches, same awards, same glamour, same heart, same soul, same bonding. Jury meetings, production schedules, coordinating star dates, red tape. It's the marriage of many minds and temperaments. One ages rapidly.

Set designers getting stuff into ship shape till the nth moment, prop wallahs who can't locate a proper clock until SRK blows a fuse. An audio visual reaches the venue at perilously close to 10 pm, long after the last guest has arrived.

But I have no desire to portray myself as a martyr - I don't wear the burden of the awards, I am not nailed to the black lady. I merely love each and every bit of it. I can say this now because the awards are over. The reason I love my job is simple - the belief that, somewhere, we are bringing a little joy into the life of people who toil around the year to bring joy into ours.

We too have made our mistakes and we've tried hard to not make them ever again. This year, a stalwart music director, whom I have respected and admired over the years, had agreed to accept the award sans conditions. But sadly, it wasn't to be. First, he wanted a change in the citation. Then, he wanted to go on stage by himself and accept both trophies - one for himself and one for his late partner. He didn't want the kin of his partner-in-rhyme to share the limelight. All the moment needed was generosity of spirit, which alas was sorely absent.

But for every moment like that there were several moments like Usha Uthup's teary speech about having waited for 42 years for her award. There were people such as Rekha who waited patiently for over two hours in her car for the show to start. For every star couple who threw a tantrum, there were people like Abhishek Bachchan who spent hours in traffic after a full day's work just to make it to the show. Thank you, Abhishek.

Then, of course, there were the untiring Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor who kept at it like manic beasts and prowled the stage over three days. Nails were bitten to the quick after the 'Slapgate' episode, over whether SRK would return to record his grand finale act. Lo and behold, there he was vibing felicitously with 50 kids to the strains of Chammak Challo. Like a true sport and a thorough professional.

The evening was rife with many such anecdotes. It's on such moments that the magic of movies truly comes alive and makes one proud to be associated with the Filmfare Awards.

Gracious as ever, Karan Johar, who refused to discuss monies for his emcee act, just said "I'll be there. Tell me what you want me to do."

On the day of the awards, it's fun when they all troop in pell-mell and hold your hand, like Kareena who said, "Why you stressing? It will go well. Am I not looking stunning?" Yes! She was in her Manish Malhotra diamante studded saree worth dizzyingly close to Rs 3.7 lakh.

Deepika Padukone looking like a vision in her throwback-to-the-'60s-look jibed that she had come only because of the goodies hamper we gave with the invites. Kareena and Karisma giving cousin Ranbir the best actor award while he was dressed in drag was quite 'the' moment.

The super '90s brigade of Juhi Chawla, Urmila Matondkar, Raveena, Sonali Bendre turning up to sprinkle star allure and glitter on the red carpet. No frills, no nakhras. Just a lot of bonhomie.

The young Partho Gupte (Stanley Ka Dabba) won the jury certificate sulking because he didn't want to go to school next day. Such endearing vignettes are Filmfare's in-house TRP moments. Madhuri Dixit's impromptu dance jig to Dhak dhak karne laga with SRK and Ranbir is why we at Filmfare love the movies and the awards shindig.

The joy of seeing the cynicism from Ranbir Kapoor's face melt. He believed awards are compromised until he won two of his own that day for his superlative performance in Rockstar. The two varied sets of juries (popular and critics) unanimously voted for him.

The reticent AR Rahman, who was honoured with the 2,500th diamond-studded trophy, asked shyly how much it was worth. "As priceless as you," one jibed back. With this award, his number of Filmfare trophies ratchets up to 28. The highest ever in Filmfare history. Aside: Rahman's pretty wife Saira wanted a photograph with Madhuri Dixit. Upon which the gorgeous diva wanted a keepsake of hers with Rahman.

Over the years, we have made sure to include those who work away from the arc lights in our legacy. Our esteemed choreographers, cinematographers, stylists, character artistes and musicians... People who have accepted a life in the shadows so that others can shine.

The technical jury meetings were also eye-openers, more for the young directoratti like Dibakar Bannerjee, Shoojit Sircar, Abhishek Sharma who were pleasantly surprised to see the processes of the technical awards jury. Protests, slanging matches and then, finally, consensus. Every year after every jury meeting, I suspect, I get more and more Filmfare awards converts. Yes, Mr Imtiaz Ali?

You can choose to dismiss it as a Hallmark moment or gag over the cheesiness of it. I will still, unapologetically, in the same Hallmark vein, tell you my favourite award each year is the Lifetime Achievement Award. I remember crying with Dharmendra when he accepted his trophy in a flood of tears, I remember looking on and smiling as he went on and on in his speech. This isn't the Oscar, we don't worry about time, because we know such events are overwhelming.

But at the end of it all you want to ask how Filmfare Awards are different from all the other awards that have sprung up - I'd have to say it's pretty much the difference between Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma - only unlike Sachin we hope we won't be stuck on our 99th century when we get there.

Black magic woman...play it again!

Just to clarify, I did not say this cause I am upset with Ranbir winning, no, I know you win some and you loose some, its totally ok. My problem is with the Publicity campaign of should SRK and Ranbir fighting for the trophy, which after the awards means, SRK lost to Ranbir after showing off 'I am so many awards'. I just do not like this publicity campaign, its reminding me of the Pepsi Youngistan ad.

If only SRK would be the star guest in Saturday Night Live show. He is so gem, free and can do anything on stage. It will be super fun and mad!:D

I am looking forward to see the Filmfare awards. The promos are looking cool. And I really missed Shahrukh hosting for a long time. Not saying that Ranbir can't do it well, he is funny, but no one can beat the King when it comes to entertaining. The man is way too pagal (in the good way :D) - I bet I will laugh again till I'll fall of the chair :D- and I loveee his ideas. He always makes me laugh.

As for him not getting the Best Actor I was a bit sad too at first, but life goes on. is only an award. He will get it next time (as the most of his FF awards are from romance movies) . I must admit Rockstar is a good movie.
He had fun hosting and we all love him for that too.

I've noticed more than one comment here about 'how long it had been since SRK hosted Filmfare" I don't understand that... These are the years he hosted or co-hosted in the last few years...

2012
2010
2008
2007
2004
2003

We've hardly had a chance to miss him hosting. :P

For those of you who already watched the show. What did you think of the Shahrukh and Ranbir hosting compared to Shahrukh and Saif?

Shaki

SRK can shine with or without anyone really. That's a given fact. But for me really you can't get anything more epic than SRK with Saif.
