CDI Review - No Spoilers
After a bleak year in terms of quality movies and the downward spiral of YashRaj films, i entered the cinema hall with mixed feelings, especially since i never watched Shimit Amins first movie. As the movie hall darkened and the anticipation mounted, the glare of the projector and the all too familiar intonation of the Yashraj logo blared and echoed and the opening scenes brought back rushes of deja vu of so many other movies. Oh no! not another one of those I thought. Surely this cannot be one of those inane, frivolous, farcical renditions of misplaced patriotism.

But then, within minutes the gripping style of the director and the underlying strength of the storytelling starts to come to the fore. Suddenly everyone in the cinema sits perched on their seats, popcorn and coke a mere distraction that is seconded to the realms of oblivion. Even the kids are enthralled as the power of storytelling prevails and the execution of the artists and the technicians mould a brilliant piece of artwork that is so intricately tied to human values that the canvas of sport entwines the fibre of the spirit of the movie - Humanity, Humility, Perseverance.

I wont say more except for the fact that the movie has redeemed my belief in bollywood and has given us a superior product, so much so that it is THE premier film of the year. The acting is superb, the girls are excellent, the dialogue is brilliant, the cinematography is fantastic, the script is amazing, the continuity is brilliant, the music [whilst excellent] is a background character, the comedy is extremely funny, the action amazingly choreographed.

Shimit Amin has a new fan in me and YashRaj is on the rise again.

I save the best for last. There are no words to describe the performance of SRK. He is no longer the Badshah, he is the Shahenshah as well. With no romancing or song and dance sequences, he effortlessly steals the show with a gritty performance, that many will overlook, because of it's simplicity in execution, but believe me, it has such enormous depth and brilliance that it had everyone in the cinema applauding and giving him a standing ovation. Today, i tell the world that I am extremely proud to be a SRK fan. He has redeemed Indian cinema with a superlative performance.

Go watch CDI with gay abandon and you will leave the cinema with your chest puffed out and your eyes very moist.

My rating for the movie is 10/10

Great review. I'm glad to hear Shimit's made another great film, and SRK's performance is as good as ever.

You have said everything I wanted to hear. Thank you. You have touched on all the aspects which are so important for a good cinema.

Last good movie by YRF was Veer Zara. We know the reason. They need Shahenshah's to reinstate their status.

Thanks, now I now I shall see this movie at least twice and enjoy it every time.
