Bollywood Mantra Review 3/5

Reviewed By : Daliya Daspurkayastha

The music of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Mohabattein are still afresh in the mind of the people. They are ever-lasting albums and still running and heard with great interest. Aditya Chopra is again trying to recreate the magical rendition of his earlier vehicles in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and this time he has given the task to carry forward the hit quotient to Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Jaideep Sahni thereby replacing Jatin-Lalit. Aditya’s last two flicks Bachna Ae Haseeno and Tashan unfortunately failed to hit the chartbuster and he is doing all the needful to make Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi a hit album.

Shahrukh and Aditya Chopra’s combination has been proved hit till date and time will tell whether RNBDJ will able to carry ahead the triumph. The promo is out and till now the music of the flick is receiving rave reviews from the audience. All the songs are mostly situational and are of varied flavors. Let’s see how successful Salim-Sulaiman is in framing a soulful music. Here is a gist of the songs which will help you to draw a perception about the album.

The album opens with 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai'. The sound of 'santoor' at the very beginning takes your breathe. It opens up quite well but gradually the interest tends to cease. The lyric is very soothing and Roop Kumar Rathod took hold of the mike. Its charm will definitely increase when lover boy Shahruhk will ablaze the silver screen. Undoubtedly, the song is situational and the lyric makes us aware that the male protagonist is singing in praise of his lover. It’s good to hear and interesting to croon in solace.

The slower version of 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai' is sung by the upcoming melody queen of Hindi cinema, Shreya Ghoshal and needless to add that she is simply magnificent here. The slower track is much more fascinating than the faster one.

Next in the line is 'Haule Haule’ rendered by Sukhwinder Singh. On listening, the audience will surely fall in love but haule haule (slowly, slowly). The lyricist here deserves a huge round of applause as the wordings are very touching. It narrates the pace at which Shahrukh falls in love with the pretty face Anuksha Sharma. Basically Indian musical arrangement is associated with the song and for that the beauty enhances. Shahrukh and newcomer Anuksha also crooned some stanza for a deviation and came out beautifully.

'Dance Pe Chance' is sung by versatile singer Sunidhi Chauhan and Labh Janjua. Orchestra arrangements are more prominent. It is a foot-tapping number and obviously picturized on Shahrukh. Sorry to say, Sunidhi fails to entertain the audience this time. Though it is a dance number, the thrill and fun is totally missing. Lyrics and music arrangement did not go well with the song and proved a total debacle.

'Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte' is a fun number and it is an amalgamation of hit old tracks like 'Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai', 'Pal Bhar Ke Liye Koyi Hamein Pyaar Kar Le', 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke', 'O Haseena Zulfon Waali', 'Jai Jai Shiv Shankar' and many more. It is a sort of antakshari sung one after another by ace singer Sonu Nigam.

In a nutshell, the songs of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi cannot be touted exceptional but average hearing. It cannot be said that the album is not worth buying, if not all, some songs are exhilarating to listen to.

I like this review. It's really true. The songs will grow once you see the film
