Sequence in RA.One copied from Robot?
SKJ Posted On Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 02:59:51 AM An action sequence on a speeding train in Shah Rukh Khan’s superhero flick RA.One is said to be identical to the one in the Rajnikanth blockbuster, Robot. A source says, “The two sequences have many special effects and boast of the hero’s never-before-seen stunts on top of a train.” But the question is how did two films made in different cities by two separate teams of technicians end up with such striking similarities? Says a source close to the project, “Shah Rukh has always been a big fan of celebrated chase sequences on top of speeding trains in films, like the one in Sholay. He wanted to mix that sense of thrill with special effects and stunts in RA.One. How was he to know that director Shankar had the same thing in mind for Rajnikanth?” Efforts are on to re-edit the train sequence in RA.One so that not a single frame resembles the chase in Robot. Resul Pookutty doesn’t deny the similarities either and says, “There are lavish train-top action sequences in both films. We are looking at how to keep it (RA.One) completely different from the earlier one (Robot).” The buzz is that Shah Rukh doesn’t want his RA.One audience to call the scene a direct copy of the one in Robot. Neither does he want to do away with the sequence. By the way, the scene cost him close to Rs 3 crore! http://www.mumbaimirror.com/article/...rom-Robot.html

Doesn't sound like total rubbish given Resul Pookutty admits to the similarities. Hopefully, they will alter it so there is no resemblence.

Unless I see a video interview with said person actually admitting to the "news" written above- if its published by MM it means rubbish to me.

Rajni, SRK have something in common
VICKEY LALWANI , MUMBAI MIRROR, Nov 3, 2010, 12.00am IST As per our report, soon after watching Robot, Shah Rukh Khan called for a SOS meeting with his technicians to make some changes to the script of RA One. He wanted to add more emotional quotients to this sci-fi thriller. Post that, the industry was abuzz with rumours that Robot and RA.One are quite similar. A few people in the industry have even been saying that after deciding not to do Shankar's Robot, Shah Rukh Khan chose to make a somewhat similar film RA.One, which is now almost ready." Plus, the fact that both Robot and RA.One have action-packed chase sequences on a train is a rather interesting coincidence, if it were one. Here's the clincher though: Shah Rukh has appointed the same person as Art Director in RA.One, who worked on Robot. The person's name is Sabu Cyril. Talking to Mumbai Mirror from London, where he is shooting for Priyadarshan's Tez, Cyril said, "Yes, I am doing RA.One." However, Cyril denied that RA.One was similar to Robot. "People might think that but it's not true. While RA.One is a virtual reality game, Robot is not." What about the train sequences? Cyril insisted, "No. Both train scenes are very different. The thought would have been similar, but you can't say that the two scenes are identical. In Robot, Rajnikanth is trying to save a girl from hoodlums, but there is nothing like that in the train scene in RA.One." Two songs of RA.One still need to be shot and Cyril intends to complete them in December when Shah Rukh returns from Berlin, he told us. Let's hope that Berlin helps Shah Rukh bring the groove back into RA.One. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/e...ow/6857510.cms

Shahrukhans Ra One and Rajnikanths Robot might be similar in many ways by Shrabani Mukherjee 2010-11-17 Shahrukh Khan, the actor who is getting younger by the day always makes it to the headlines. The recent buzz which is making rounds in Bollywood is that Shahrukh’s starrer Ra. One is quite similar to Rajnikanth’s film Robot and hence it has been postponed to next Diwali. Rajnikanth’s Robot released recently to top the chats and it is anticipated that Shahrukh Khan didn’t want to draw a comparison between the two films and hence have decided to push off the release to 2011 Diwali. Ra One is a hindi Sci fi Fantasy with the King Khan and Kareena as the main protagonist and the film is supposed to be high on crazy moves. Much of the James bond looks have been copied in the film in order to give it a glamorized look. Shahrukh this time wants to be different with Ra.One. He feels that the next step to the Indian film industry would be technology and effects and he wants to be the first one to manage it. The story revolves around a Miami based Software engineer Shekhar, played by Badshah Khan. This man creates a monster Ra One and the female lead is played by none other than Kareena Kapoor. Although much is not known about the film yet if the project turns out well then Ra One would indeed take Indian cinema much forward. Due to lot of work and busy schedule it seems that Shah Rukh has no time to tweet these days. His last tweet came on the day of his birthday where he thanked all his fans and his friends for making him feel special. Even in the latest IPL controversy he did not comment, maybe due to past controversies or due to his busy schedule.
